Cookies & site storage
1. The short version
Claaro.com does not use advertising, marketing, or third-party analytics cookies. We do not load Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight, HubSpot tracking, Hotjar, Clarity, or any other tracker. We do not embed third-party iframes (YouTube, Vimeo, reCAPTCHA) that would set cookies. Web fonts are served from our own domain.
Because of this, no cookie consent banner is required under the EU ePrivacy Directive (Art. 5(3)). The only browser storage we use is strictly necessary, first-party, and stays on your device.
2. What we store on your device
The complete list of items we read or write in your browser:
| Name | Storage | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
claaro:lang | localStorage | Remembers the site language you chose so we serve it on your next visit. | Until you clear site data. |
claaro-visited | sessionStorage | Marks within the current tab that you have already seen our entry animations, so we do not replay them when you navigate. | Cleared when you close the tab. |
Neither item contains personal data, neither is transmitted to our servers, and neither is shared with any third party. Both fall under the "strictly necessary" exemption recognised by national data protection authorities (CNIL, ICO, EDPB Cookie Banner Task Force 2023 report) for first-party user-interface preferences.
3. Why no consent banner
The legal anchor for cookie banners is Art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC), which requires prior, informed consent before storing or reading information on a user's device — except where the storage is strictly necessary to provide a service the user has explicitly requested. The two items in section 2 meet that exemption. Adding a consent banner for them would be misleading and is discouraged by EU regulators.
4. If this ever changes
If we later decide to add analytics, A/B testing, advertising pixels, session replay, or any other technology that does not qualify for the strictly-necessary exemption, we will:
- Update this page before the technology is deployed.
- Show a consent prompt with "Accept" and "Reject" as equally prominent, one-click options — no pre-ticked boxes, no cookie walls.
- Block the technology from running until you have made a choice.
- Let you change or withdraw your choice from this page at any time.
Our current preference is to adopt cookie-less analytics tooling (such as Plausible, Fathom, or a comparable service) so that no consent prompt is ever needed.
5. Managing storage yourself
You can clear both items above at any time from your browser's site-data settings (Chrome & Edge: Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → View permissions and data stored across sites; Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data; Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data). Clearing them will simply mean we show our entry animations again and ask you to pick a language on your next visit.
